The Big Difference.
When the Goddess split the two paths of Aloria and made them different worlds, the main difference between them became that in Astral Aloria- as opposed to Terrestrial Aloria- emitted an energy that the people and the animals could tap into to gain special and unique abilities. This energy is simply called Pulse, for it is the thriving life force of the Goddess that is keeping Astral Aloria alive.
Pulse can affect humans in one of three ways. The first way is in which Pulse resembles the element its bearer feels closest to. These are the elements of the world of Aloria. There are four categories of elements: Earth, Sun, Moon, and Space. Within each of these categories is more specific manifestations and influences. Earth: Plant, Rock, and Life. Sun: Fire, Light, and Chemical reactions. Moon: Water, Illusion, and Dream. And Space: Air, Ice, and Gravity. These are a few examples, but there are more specific examples in each category. This manifestation is for those with a heart closest with nature.
The second manifestation of Pulse involves the Fauna of Aloria, and a bond between the user and the animal. The natives of Cellhonis use this type of Pulse exclusively, if one of their own has a different Pulse manifestation they are immediately banished from the tribes. All natives have this type of Pulse, but not all with this type of Pulse are natives. With this Pulse one forms a bond with an animal, and can draw magic from that animal, becoming more feral. At a certain point in the relationship with their animal the user will be able to shapeshift into an animal of the same species. That is far from the strongest abilities one would gain from the animal though. Each magical relationship develops in different ways, so they are unpredictable in which ways they will grow and evolve. This manifestation is for those with a heart closest with animals.
The third manifestation is the most unpredictable. This encompasses every other type of magic not previously mentioned. These different abilities could be anything from creating metal with your breath to being able to communicating with animals to the use of alchemy. Some are useful for fighting, others are useful for a skill or trade, and some are apparently useless. This manifestation is for those with a heart closest to mankind.
As a side note, magic type is not passed down through families typically. The person himself determines the type of magic he obtains. Their soul determines it, per se. As such it is rare for a person's type of magic to change, though not impossible. If their soul is somehow changed, their magic can change too.
------
Besides this manifestation in humans there are also quite a few different creatures that have become entwined in her Pulse, and thus have gained abilities of their own. Because of this, Humanoid characters are also able to be played- those with human like consciousness and also the ability to speak. Think out your character well, and their race, their strengths and weaknesses, and the range of their Pulse abilities, and if it seems fair and legit we will allow you to play as this type of character.
-------
Since the magics of this place has its roots in creation, has been there through the establishment of civilization it makes sense that their laws incorporated rules of magic from the beginning times. There are these rules, and then there are basic etiquettes as well. For you to play a convincing active character in this land knowing these are imperative.
Rules and Etiquette
The rules of magic are pretty simple, and though you may think enforcing such laws uniformly over two continents would be pretty impossible (how would they agree on the rules? How would they enforce them?) it is not. Not impossible. Difficult yes. The Couriers of Our Pulse (as they call themselves)
